Charlotte 'Fozz' Forrester

Hi! I'm Charlotte 'Fozz' Forrester, an English graduate from the University of Exeter and a young journalist. 

I am currently the Kickstart Content Assistant for Tyla (LADbible Group) and the co-founder of gals in journalism, a platform that shares resources and creates a community for marginalised genders entering the journalism industry.

My work has appeared in Tyla, Huff Post UK, Polyester, The Breakdown, Student Hut, Express & Star, Girlguiding UK, Live Mag and Femsplain, as well as other publications.

Experience

Tyla (LADbible Group)

  • Sent several reports daily on Tyla's traffic numbers and video views.
  • Sourced stories and assisted with social packaging, We had record-breaking weeks of traffic and video views while I was on the Tyla team.
  • Wrote articles ranging from features to breaking news and live TV shift work to trending topics. This was done through EMS initially and then Content Stack.
  • Sourced videos and edited them before uploading to JW player.
  • Helped with Tyla's Instagram by using Photoshop and Premiere Rush to create posts and co-led our Black History Month content. During my placement, our Instagram following increased by 25k.
  • Acted as admin for the Tyla beauty and skincare Facebook group which doubled its membership in four months.

    Gals in Journalism

    • Used graphic design and social media strategy skills to share resources and create an online community of over 2,700 members/followers on our Facebook group and Instagram page.
    • Improved my social media copywriting, podcast production, virtual event organising, Canva and Adobe Creative Suite skills, specifically Photoshop, Audition, After Effects and Premiere Pro.

    • Edited and wrote articles for the Film & TV column using Squarespace and curated a monthly content call.
    • Helped with social media publicity and assisted with other tasks such as newsletter creation.

    RAZZ Magazine

    • Edited the University of Exeter's arts, culture and lifestyle magazine's print issues and regularly contributed to online editing. After my two years, we had tripled its online readership per month and increased the physical distribution from 150 to 4,000 copies.
    • Received our first-ever national SPA nominations in 2019 (Best Magazine Design and Best Interview) and later won our first award for a fashion photoshoot that I led (SPA’s South West Regional Award for Best Collaboration). Later won national awards in the Best Entertainment and Best Lifestyle categories.
    • Developed my skills in newsletter creation, social media management and WordPress. 

    Exeposé

    • Proofed the University of Exeter's biweekly student newspaper which won SPA's 2020 Best Student Publication.

    Work Placements

    • I have fulfilled work experience placements at Red Magazine/Good Housekeeping/Prima, The Sunday Times Magazine, Offstone Publishing Company, Live Mag (Livity) and the Express & Star. My responsibilities included transcribing, researching, producing cuts, contributing to newsletters, writingn pieces and shadowing editors.
